Want to take the fear factor out of getting a motorcycle? Start with a scooter. There are many scooters that actually go as fast as a scooter, but being smaller, they are not really that intimidating. So do your self a favor and stop filling your car up with $60 worth of gas and check out some of these great scooter models.

Start with these scooter companies when you are looking to get into the scooter game.

Honda Motor Scooters -- They have the huge 600cc Silver Wing and a couple of great 49cc scooters, but nothing with exactly 250cc, but you may what to check out the SH150i. A little under powered, but I think you would be pleasantly surprised.

Kymco - The GrandVista 250 has a 4 stroke engine and you can expect to pay in the mid $4000 range. The one thing this model does not feature that others do is fuel injection.

Vespa Motor Scooters - You will find fuel injection and a 4 stroke, liquid cooled engine in both the GTS 250 and the GVT 250. The price range for these scooters is between $6000 - $7000.

United Motors - At just over $2000, the Expressway 250 comes at the most affordable option in this category. It still has a 4 stroke liquid cooled engine, so if you are on a tight budget make sure you take a long hard look at the Expressway. Great deal!

Cheetah - The Cheetah Touring 250 is a very popular model that comes in at around the $3000 mark. Not bad for this size scooter. No fuel injection, but it can still move pretty fast.

Yamaha Scooters -- These type of 250cc scooters all go about 80mph and the Roketa MC-54-250 is no different. Many people don't think of Yamaha when searching for scooters, but this is a good one with a great price tag. ($2000)

You tell me: What can go 80 mph, and get 80 mpg? I'll tell you right now that there is no car that can. So if you are in the market for a new vehicle, take a quick look at the 250cc scooter market. They may give you the affordability and efficiency you are looking for.
